What's New at Breslau Animal Hospital???

Greetings everyone,

Sorry it has been so long since my last post, I have been a very busy guy. As many of you know, there has been a lot going on at Breslau Animal Hospital and there is so much more to come! There are a few things I’d like to share with you today.

First, I want to talk to you about ticks…Ewwww, I know…ticks! Unfortunately, they are a reality. Ticks quest when the weather is 4°C and above. This means that if your pet is out and about in non-groomed areas such as long grass, wooded areas and even dog parks (you never know where those other dogs have been), they should be on tick prevention medication. No test is needed before starting this medication. So hurry in and ensure that your furry friends are protected this spring season.

Recently there has been a lot of chatter around the clinic about heartworm. When do we start testing? When do we start prevention? Here is the scoop…We will start testing at the beginning of May due to unseasonably warm weather we had this past fall. Here at Breslau Animal Hospital, we test for heartworm and three different tick-borne diseases with one simple blood test (Accuplex4). This year we have a great prize up for grabs. Any patient that has their Accuplex4 test done will automatically be entered into a draw for the chance to win 6 months of flea, tick, and heartworm prevention free for 2017! Dr. Melillo, Dr. Duckworth and the girls at the clinic wanted me to let you know that if you have any questions regarding heartworm, how transmission occurs, or why and when testing should occur, please do not hesitate to contact us at the clinic.

Finally, I am so excited to tell you about our GRAND RE-OPENING / OPEN HOUSE on SATURDAY, APRIL 30th from 1:00 – 4:00pm. We are very excited about this! As you all know, Breslau Animal Hospital has been under new ownership since December 2015 and many changes have been made. We are very proud of these changes and want to share them with everyone. Here are B.A.H. we believe in community and what being a part of a community means. Funds raised at our event are going to support the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. From Teddy bear surgery to raffles, door prizes and a silent auction, this is an event that everyone will enjoy! Country 106.7FM will even be broadcasting live. I hope to see you all there because it is going to be a PAR-TAY!

I think I have covered all the important news for now. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email us. The wonderful ladies I am spoiled by everyday are always here to help!
